Chang Nature Park, Chiang Mai Province

Rare White Chang (Elephant).
White Elephants are considered sacred in Southeast Asia’s Buddhist Culture. They probably don’t exist in the wild anymore, because as soon as they are discovered, they “belong” to kings. VIE treatment and not visible to the public, they spend their lives behind closed doors, wearing gold and jewels, and stuffing themselves with fruits and veggies.
This one was evicted after influential humans decided he was not a true White Chang. This beauty now lives at ENP (Elephant Nature Park) outside Chiang Mai. A wonderful Elephant Sanctuary open to visitors, and highly recommended by me.
